Blog Detail

About a year ago we surprised our oldest daughter with a set of keys to her own car.

I’m sure my mixture of emotions were similar to most parents who’ve reached this milestone with their teenagers.

I was equal parts joy (now I had an eager-errand-runner), and fear (I’ve never done this, how will I know she’s safe?).

It can be a bit scary and overwhelming to start something new.

Writing can feel the same way.

Especially when your writing in order to provoke an action or a reaction from your audience. A lot is on the line, right?

The most cost-effective, and direct way to market your people is through (drumroll please) …EMAIL!

Email marketing is an informal and personal way of connecting with your audience. Unlike the unwarranted ads that pop up on your social media feeds, your email inbox is a bit of a sacred space.

You don’t just give anybody your email address.

And when you do, it’s because you want more info, or to want to stay in touch, or you just really want to consume their content.

So the question is, how can you capitalize on this special relationship and maximize your effort through email?

I’m so glad you asked!

I believe the magic is in the email sequence.

What is an email sequence?

An email sequence (also called an autoresponder) is a series of emails sent to your subscribers based on predetermined time intervals. It is usually an automated process, and something you set up one time.

You can create multiple sequences triggered for specific actions (i.e. customer signs up for a newsletter, or purchases a product).

A well-crafted email sequence can help you grow your business, increase sales, and engage with your audience.

To continue the driving analogy, your email sequence allows you to drive with the cruise control on.

Written for a variety of purposes, an email sequence can:

  • Nurture a new lead into a customer
  • Turn existing customers on to a new product or service
  • Onboard new customers
  • Remind your tribe of upcoming events

Can anyone write an email sequence?

I believe the answer is yes! but…

Just like you’ve got to know the rules of the road before you get behind the wheel, there are some fundamental elements you need to know in order to write an effective email sequence.

Do you know how to drive this car?

If you’re an entrepreneur and you want to DIY your own email sequence or your boss or client handed you the “keys” of this new car and said, “Hey, I need you to write an email sequence for our subscribers. On your marks, get set, GO!”

Would you know where to start and what to include?

–> You can “ready, fire, aim” and figure it out as you go.

–> Or you can research blog posts for hours and hack your way through it.

–> Or you can save yourself the time and hassle and get a step-by-step guide that will take the pain out of the learning curve and walk through the process step-by-step.

I’m not a fan of pain (or wasting time), so a step-by-step process is right up my alley. It’s probably up your alley too.

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel

As a copywriter, I was on the hunt for a tool to help me know I was doing it correctly.

I wanted to be sure that the email sequences I was delivering included all the necessary elements.

But the truth was, I was learning on the fly. I searched (unsuccessfully) for a product that would help me write an ENTIRE series (not just the welcome email…those are a dime a dozen!).

From my search, I realized the “step-by-step, make sure you’ve got all your ducks in a row, hold my hand, so I don’t mess this up” help didn’t exist. As a result, I’ve created the How to Create the Ultimate Email Checklist and accompanying Workbook. It is what I wished I had when I was learning how to write an email sequence.

Through the use of this Checklist, I’ve now successfully written hundreds of email marketing sequences for my clients.

It includes all the answers to the questions you may have (plus more!). Including:

  • How do plan out your email sequence?
  • How many emails should you include in your sequence?
  • What should I include in my emails?
  • How increase your open rates?
  • How to sell (and when to do it in your sequence)

On, your marks, get set, GO!

I’m happy to report that in the year or so of driving her own car, our daughter has had only one minor fender bender (not her fault!), and she’s been a huge help to me in the driving department.

What started with a lot of trepidation, has turned into a major asset to our family.

It may seem daunting at first, but the best way to learn how to write your email sequence is to do it. Get in and buckle up with your FREE How to Write the Ultimate Email Sequence CHECKLIST and get started today.

You’ll be glad you did!
